Kauai Travel Guide: Visit Kauai

The St Regis Princeville is located on Kauai’s North Shore. The airport of Lihue – the primary airport serving Kauai – is a 45 minute drive away. The hotel is set in the ritzy resort area of Princeville. Princeville is home to a few hotels, gated communities, and a beautiful golf course. The hotel enjoys Hawairs most stunning location. It clings to a cliff overlooking Hanalei Bay and the spectacular Napali Coast (shown later). The hotel is located at the end of Princeville road. The drive from the Princeville entrance gates to the resort takes around 5 minutes.

Where to Stay in Kauai

The lobby is located atop a bluff e budding has a sleek, villa-esque look from the out<. Valet parking includes unlimited in-and-out privileges. The hotel staff provides bottled water, beach towels, maps of the island, and directions. Tour of the immense lobby. Like most hotels in Hawaii, the St Regis Princeville is built on a grand scale. This is the resort’s reception area. Check-in is a very smooth process (as you would expect from the St Regis brand). The spa entrance is also located within the lobby. I’ll have a spa treatment here later in this clip. The hotel opened in 1986 as a Sheraton hotel. In 2009, it was rebranded as Hawaii’s only St Regis hotel after an extensive renovation. The Best Luxury Hotels in Kauai

The 2009 renovation preserved the Hawaiian ambience. IMHO, the hotel itself is not very remarkable (a$gpore). There are other hotels in Hawaii that offer a more luxurious decor and fetter service. However, there’s one reason why you MUST stay here. No other hotel in Hawaii can match the resort’s stunning natural setting and views . The lobby terrace offers jaw-dropping vistas. The Napali Coast – the world’s most spectacular stretch of coast – is seen at the horizon. The terrace also offers views of Hanalei Town. This tiny village is located at the foot of Hanalei’s misty green mountains.

I explore the Napali Coast later in this clip. It’s one of the most breathtaking natural sceneries I have ever seen. A few more impressions of the lobby Unfortunately, the lobby itself does not enjoy a lot of vistas. The ceilings were lowered during the 2009 renovation. An extra corridor with elevators was added as well, blocking the phenomenal view. The lobby is located on the 9th floor. From here, elevators take guests to the accommodations of the lower floors. The lobby elevators only travel to the 4th floor. From here, it’s a short stroll to another set of elevators that serves the lower floors. The room features a sumptuous marble bathroom. Facilities include a double vanity and oversized bathtub with shower combination.

The Remede toiletries are daily replenished. These rank among my favorite hotel bathroom amenities. Rooms feature either one king or two queen beds. The bed is adorned with embroidered bed linens. If you prefer views, book a room on a higher floor. If you prefer easy pool and beach access, book a room on the 4th floor or below. This is the hotel’s lowest floor.

Here, you find the pool area and the resort’s beach, facing the Napali Coast. The resort features one large pool, open 24/7. It looks like an infinity pool but a few rows of loungers separate the pool from the si. The pool area features 3 lovely hot tubs. One is built inside the main pool, while the other two are located on the. The Nalu Kai Grill and Bar is set poolside. It serves light Hawaiian influenced cuisine at lunch time. There are plenty of loungers around the pool. Unfortunately, the chaise loungers are made of netting, and cushions-are not offered.

The resort’s beach fronts are incredibly scenic. Protected by the Anini reef, the waters here remain calm and sh. The gold sand beach isn’t Hawaii’s best. But the phenomenal views make more than up for that. The beach is shared by hotel guests and tourists. Like all beaches in Hawaii, the beach is not private but open to the public. The spa features twelve treatment rooms. This includes a couples room and a VIP Room. Dinner at Makena Terrace. Makena Terrace is the resort’s main restaurant, offering sophisticated casual dining.

Breakfast is also served at Makena Terrace. IMHO, breakfast (buffet + a la carte) is a disappointing affair and could be much better. Kauai’s tropical scenery may look vaguely familiar. The island has featured in many Hollywood movies (e.g. Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones). The Napali Coast spans 14 mi along the west Jungle clad cliffs with razor-sharp ridges tower above the Pacific Ocean. There are many ways to explore the Napali Coast. One of them is by hiking the incredibly scenic coastal Kalalau trail. The trail is considered one of the world’s most epic hikes.

The trail passes beautiful beaches and waterfalls that plummet to lush valley floors. The full hike takes around two days. The first 2 miles of the Kalalau Trail to Hanakapi’ai Beach is perfect for a day hike. Most daytrippers continue to the Hanakapiai Falls. This part of the trail is difficult because of stream crossings and muddy conditions. Ke’e Beach is located nearby the trail head. The reef-protected waters in front of this beach are excellent for snorkeling. This is picturesque Lumahai Beach. This gold sand beach was made famous by Hollywood in the movie South Pacific. The Napali Coast can also be enjoyed from above. Kokee State Park offers many trails leading to heartstopping cliff-to-ocean lookout. Waimea Canyon is another famous Kauai attraction. Located on Kauai’s West Side, it is described as ‘The Grand Canyon of the. Queen’s Bath is located nearby the St Regis hotel. Water spills over the lava rocks to refresh the natural tide pools.
