How to get around Zadar

Getting around Zadar can be a bit tricky if you’re not familiar with the city’s layout. Below, we outline how to get from one part of town to another by public transportation and by walking.

Public Transportation: The main public transportation line in Zadar is called “ZET.” It runs throughout the city and costs 3 euro each way. You can also ride the free trams that run throughout the city center, however, these tend to be crowded and uncomfortable.

If you’re looking to avoid crowds, consider renting a bike from one of the many rental shops in town. Prices start at around 20 euro per day. Cyclists should be aware that there are no bike lanes in Zadar, so it can be dangerous to bike without protecting yourself from traffic.

Walking: If you’d rather avoid using public transportation or a bike, walking is an easy option. The city center is only about 2 square kilometers, so it shouldn’t take long to cover it on foot. However, note that sidewalks are often very narrow and filled with pedestrians, so it’s important to watch out for traffic when crossing streets.
