Tai Tam Country Park is a vast area well-prepared at the heart of Hong Kong Island. You will meet a perfect trail at the park for walking, jogging, hiking and tracking. It would take around 3 hours from the park at southern part of Hong Kong Island to Mount Parker Road Lb starting from northern part of the island, Quarry Bay. It will never let you down as the best park in Hong Kong Island.

You can also enjoy BBQ at clean BBQ areas of the park. There are 6 BBQ areas before “Tai Fung Au”, a hill, where you will go down to Quarry Bay. Here introduces BBQ areas assuming that you will enjoy BBQ before hiking to Quarry Bay.

For Tai Tam Country Park, take a bus no. 14 at MTR Sai Wan Ho Station exit A and alight from the bus at “Tai Tam Country Park”. When return, you can get the same bus at a bus stop standing at the entrance of the park. If

you try a 3-hour-hiking to Quarry Bay, you can take an MTR at Quarry Bay Station.

Wellcome superstore near MTR Sai Wan Ho Station

A Wellcome superstore is located around 500 meters away from MTR Sai Wan Ho Station exit A. Collect all BBQ items and foods and come back to the bus stop just in front of exit B of the station. A bus no. 14 will take you directly to Tai Tam Country Park in 20 minutes.

Go around 500 meters to the right from exit B of MTR Sai Wan Ho Station as indicated by the red arrow on the photo. At exit B, turn the corner to the right and you will meet exit A of the station. MTR Sai Wan Ho Sttion is located next to “Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre” seen on the right.

3 How to get the park. MTR Sai Wan Ho Station

The way to “Tai Tam Country Park” is the same as that for “Turtle Cove Beach”. Take a bus no. 14 at the bus stop standing in front of exit A of MTR Sai Wan Ho Station and get off the bus at “Tai Tam

Country Park”. Bus no. 14 will run on a narrow bridge built on Tai Tam Reservoir before stop at “Tai Tam Country Park”. The bridge does not allow 2 big vehicles at the same time. Therefore, in case of 2 buses, one has to wait at the end of the bridge for the other one to run through the bridge. When the bus runs on the bridge, prepare to alight. The next stop is “Tai Tam Country Park”.

When the bus runs on the narrow bridge on Tai Tam Reservoir, remind that it will stop at “Tai Tam Country Park” next. The bridge is indicated by a box of “Bus way no. 14” on the map. Now, let’s take a look at the way from MTR Sai Wan Ho Station to Tai Tam Country Park.

Press bell when the bus runs on the narrow bridge built on Tai Tam Reservoir and get off the bus at next stop. Go back around 50 meters from the bus stop of Tai Tam Country Park and you will meet the entrance to the park on the other side of the road. A 2-storied building toilet is standing on the right side of the entrance to the park and a bus stop is situated in front of the toilet. It is the bus stop for your return to MTR Sai Wan Ho Station. When return after BBQ at the park, get a bus no. 14 at the bus stop and get off the bus at “Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre”.

If you walk along the road in the park as indicated by the first red arrow, you will meet several BBQ areas well-prepared beside the way. “BBQ Area Site 3” with 2 chairs at the entrance and “BBQ Area Site 4” prepared on both sides of the road are most recommendable for you to enjoy BBQ.

When start hiking after BBQ, you will walk on the well-paved “Mount Parker Road” as indicated by the first red arrow on the map. It will take

around 1 and half hours from the park to the hill of “Quarry GapTai Fung Au”. And it takes roughly 1 hour more from the hill to “Pak Tam Road” at Quarry Bay indicated by the second red arrow. They call “Mount Parker Road at Quarry Bay as “Pak Tam Road”. Therefore, it may take around 2 and half hours from the mouth of “Tai Tam Country Park” to Quarry Bay. When you arrive at the end of “Pak Tam Road” at Quarry Bay, go around 300 meters to the left and you will meet MTR Quarry Bay Station on your left. Now, take a look at the way from MTR Sai Wan Ho Station to Tai Tam Country Park.

A no. 14 is running on the narrow bridge on Tai Tam Reservoir. It will stop at “Tai Tam Country Park” next. The bridge does not allow 2 big vehicles at the same time. Press the bell to alight.

Go back around 50 meters from the bus stop and you will meet the entrance to the park on the other side of the road. The 2 storied building toilet at the entrance is partly seen on the left.

 

Tai Tam Reservoir Country Park

It has 2 huge reservoirs in the park. Lower dam and upper reservoir have jade water where turtles are living in. The water also contains the sky and the mountain surrounding the park. When you enter the park, you will meet 6 clean and vast BBQ areas one by one.

After BBQ, if you follow the beautiful path in the park, you will arrive at MTR Quarry Bay Station in around 2 hours, which is located on the other side of Hong Kong Island. Tai Tam Reservoir Country Park is situated at the southern part of the island. On the other hand, MTR Quarry Bay Station is located on the northern area of the island.

If you want to return to downtown after BBQ rather than following the trail in the park, you can take a bus No. 14 at the entrance to the park. The way back to downtown at the mouth of the park will be introduced at the finish.

A 2 storied toilet is standing in front of the entrance to Tai Tam Country Park. When you return to downtown, you can take a bus No. 14 at the bus stand located in front of the toilet.

You will meet “Tai Tam Reservoir Barbecue Area Site 1” shortly.

Get rid of the sharp end of BBQ fork and put 2 BBQ nets together. Place the linked nets on the fire and put the foods on the nets to be roasted. You can also roast foods with BBQ forks directly on the fire.

Fire Starter. 2 packs would be enough.

Put a BBQ net on the iron shelf established in BBQ pit to prevent charcoal from being slippend down. And place charcoal on the net. Light the red part of BBQ Fire Starter first and put the starter in the middle of charcoal. Blow or make wind by a fan and you will get a fire faster.

Place BBQ Nets linked by BBQ forks on the fire and roast the foods on the nets.

Salt, Pepper, Scissors, Fish Ball, Beef, Seasoned Chicken and Pork from the left

Plum, Chopsticks, Tongs, Tissue, etc.

Sprinkle salt and pepper on the meat.

Turn the foods not to be roasted too much.

For MTR Quarry Bay Station, take the way to the left as indicated by the yellow arrow.

Go around 300 meters from the signpost for “Mount Parker Road Green Trail”.

Follow the yellow arrow and you will meet MTR Quarry Bay Station on your left.

Way back to downtown from the entrance to Tai Tam Country Park

If you want to come back to downtown after BBQ at the park, you can take a bus No. 14 at the entrance to Tai Tam Country Park. As explained earlier, there is a bus stand in front of the toilet at the entrance to the park.

Alight from the bus at Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre and cross the road. Then, you will meet MTR Sai Wan Ho Station by the center. Actually, it is the same subway station you took a bus No. 14 in the morning when you come to Tai Tam Reservoir Country Park.

A 2 storied building, toilet, is standing in front of the entrance to Tai Tam Country Park. Alight from the bus at “Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre”. It would take around 20 or 30 minutes from this bus stop. Watch the electronic signboard in the bus for the next stops. When “Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre” is shown on the board, press the bell to stop. Get off the bus and cross the road. Then, you will meet MTR Sai Wan Ho Station standing next to the building of “Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre”.

Get off the bus at “Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre” and cross the road. If you use the grey air bridge over the road, you can arrive directly at MTR Sai Wan Ho Station.
