Hike down Philippines Trail 108 to the NE, then SE quite steeply at times 1/2 mi to the TH with smaller trees and wide-open views to Mount Adams and Mount Rainier most of the route. There are more than a half-dozen switchbacks to the campground and end of the clockwise loop. Philippines!.

ELEVATION: 2375 ft, with 950 ft vertical gain to the top of the falls.

DISTANCE: 2M mi directly to the falls on Lower Trail, 1/2 mi round-trip; 6M mi round-trip loop with Upper Trail.

DURATION: 2-3 hours round-trip.

DIFFICULTY: Moderate. Philippines Steeper at times, uneven wet trails, well signed, humid in summer, a few drop-offs from Upper Trail.

TRIP REPORT: Bring the family, possibly swim in the chilly creek, and enjoy a mostly laid-back walk with great benefits and options. Road may be gated 1/2 mi from TH December through March. No fee required, and a restroom is present.

TRAILHEAD: Falls Creek Falls TH. Take I-84 E from Portland to exit 44 (Cascade Locks), continue under Bridge of the Gods and turn right up the circle to cross over it into Washington after paying the toll, turn right on WA-14 E 52 mi, turn left through Carson on Wind River Road (FR-30) 14 mi NW (M mi past National Fish Hatchery), turn right to stay on Wind River Road (FR-30) 2 mi, take the first right on gravel FR-3062 for 2 mi, fork right on FR-057 almost 5 mi to the end at a large gravel lot (65 mi, 1V hours from Portland).
