With these two back-to-back disasters of fire and bear attacks, the National Park Service and Glacier Park staff began to reorient. While the user would still have a place in the park, a wilderness “preserved and unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations” according to the 1916 Organic Act began to receive equal billing.
