History of Corona

Corona is a small town in Riverside County, California, United States. It is located east of downtown Riverside and southeast of Lake Elsinore. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 5.4 square miles (13.1 km2), all land. Corona was founded in 1887 by John Strother Griffin, and it was incorporated on February 17, 1907. It is named for its colorful oranges, which were prevalent in the region in the early 20th century.
