Qutb Shahi Tombs

Within close proximity to the Golconda fort are the tombs of 7 rulers of the Qutb Shahi Dynasty. When seen from the Fort, they form a cluster of structures that stand tall on a raised platform. All tombs comprise domes that are intricately carved and designed. Each tomb was richly decorated with carpets, chandeliers and velvet canopies and maintained with great care until the fall of the empire. As structures that were greatly revered during the Qutb Shahi reign, each tomb had a Quran that was kept on a pedestal, and even read from at regular intervals.

Falaknuma Palace

A relatively recent structure, the Falaknuma Palace was built in 1892 to celebrate the glory of the Nizams of Hyderabad. A palace built at a height of 2000ft and entirely in Italian marble, it boasts some of the most exotic treasures and collections of the Nizams. Designed as a scorpion with stings spread to the north, this structure brings together a beautiful blend of Italian and Tudor architecture. With the world-famous Jade collection, rosewood furniture and Venetian chandeliers, Falaknuma Palace is true to its translation of heavenly abode.
