WHEN IT COMES TO THE MALDIVES, LOCATION IS KEY

Coco Bodu Hithi (40 minutes by speedboat from Malé) is close enough to the airport yet far enough away to revel in uninterrupted Indian Ocean views and total tranquility. Picture the scene: coconut palms swaying, sun- dappled paths and whistle-out-loud over-water villas with enough space for a family of four. One of the first resorts in the Maldives to allocate each villa its own private pool, there’s no skimping on luxury here, but best of all, the resort has a brilliant attitude towards romance. One couple was recently treated to a treasure hunt that started with their butler handing them a cryptic clue at breakfast.

A boat journey (cue manta rays and blacktip reef sharks) ensued to a sandbank where a beautiful picnic had been set up for just the two of them. Later on, during a sunset cruise, they were surprised again with an envelope tucked into a platter of canapés, leading them to a wine-paired dinner at the resort’s Wine Loft. The day ended with a simple invitation: to a private cinema on the beach, where the husband had arranged for his wife’s favourite film to be screened… Combining contemporary design, tropical abundance and clever forward thinking, Brides can’t think of a better place for creating memories to last a lifetime. cococollection.com
